Hi, i’m Jessica De La Torre
I’m a D.C.-based video storyteller with a focus on short-form content for digital media and television. I’m passionate about creating authentic, impactful stories that resonate with diverse audiences. My work spans creative agencies, political campaigns, and independent films, where I’ve honed my skills in crafting compelling, bilingual narratives across platforms.
Currently, I’m a Social Video Editor for World Central Kitchen and a Social Video Consultant with Define American, working with José Antonio Vargas to grow his personal and podcast’s presence through engaging, viral vertical videos.
Alongside social video work, I pursue long-form journalistic freelance projects supported by grants and fellowships. In 2024, I was awarded the Renaissance Journalism LaunchPad Fellowship, the Mellon Environmental Justice Fellowship, and a Seed Grant from the Fund for Investigative Journalism for reporting focused on environmental justice, gender, and labor rights.
I hold a master’s from UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor’s in Journalism from San Francisco State University.
